Cool Black Suede
Cool Black Suede is a long standing project centered around the songs of Dan Mundy. His tunes have a very sincere and plaintive quality that I think you will find endearing. Emery Baker plays lead guitar and I play the drums. Bass players have come and gone, so i do most of the recorded bass parts now.
First up is "Phishin", the title of which is only vaguely a reference to the band and not at all to the email scamming method. I think this may be the first song written by Dan, and it's a good one: themes of alienation and frustration abound, and it feels right at home in our millenium, though it was written in the last. Lo to mid-fi audio courtesy of a standalone hard disk recorder. Bass by Joe King. Recorded Spring of '04. Link to "Phishin"
The next tune your brain will be boarding on the Cool Black Suede Express is "700 Miles". Main progression by E. Baker, overdub lead and drums by me, bass is J.K. again. A song written between a rock and a hard place that happens to also rock untold numbers of llama asses to yet undiscovered planets. Link for "700 Miles"
And to end our delicious sampling of Cool Black Suede cuisine (for now--more updates to come), we present you the very tasty track called "Sunlight". This is a much more recent recording (circa Oct '07) than foregoing songs on this page, and it was made on a MCI 1" 8 track reel-to-reel recorder. Dan's lyrics are cast out into the starscape around us while he is still planted on the Earth singing its songs. E. Baker lead guitar, Dan electric rhythm guitar, me (M. Marshall) on drums and overdubbed bass. Link to "Sunlight"
